I renewed by MS Office through Apple Store. It was billed by them on 15.1.2021 and validity was till Dec 30, 2021. It stopped working from May 8 – I cannot save data on MS Office files- they are asking me to activate account – which means I can take a one month free trial and then pay for it after a month. If I say I have an account, then it asks for an activation key – which Apple never shared.
I have spent, between yesterday and today, 8 hours on call and chats with Apple and Microsoft, have deleted and reinstalled MS Office three times, screen shared with Apple and Microsoft – but they do not seem to know the problem. I have shared the purchase invoices as well with both teams.
Apple conveniently said it was not their problem that Microsoft is a third party vendor and they need to sort it out.
Microsoft tell me that as per their record, my license expired on May 3. Microsoft said, from the chat “Microsoft is not a third party vendor. The license was purchased from Apple and its not reflecting in your account and they need to fix it.”
They are both throwing the ball, in this case the customer, at each other .
To me it seems like a simple glitch which can be fixed between Apple and Microsoft – but they are pushing me to different desks.
