My father N C Das( patient id AM30011000, Bed no 2435) was admitted to AMRI hospital Mukundapur Kolkata on 02-OCT-2019 12:10:00 and was discharged on 07-OCT-2019 12:10:00. The TPA team didn’t send incorrectly Formatted billing documents to the Insurance team, leading to the Insurance team asking for properly formatted bill documents by 4.30 PM, The TPA team didn’t work on the billing documents and send the revised formatted bill to insurance team by 8.00PM. This lead to insurance team office getting closed and the patient could not be discharged. This is totally lack of Negligence and criminal offence from the hospital as they are trying to bill us for Another 2 days for a patient who is already discharged. You can contact me on [protected] to know more about the issue.

Our patient got admitted to amri hospital on 20th september for regular fever, as he was an ex-employee of indian railway, br singh hospital referred him to amri. It was said by br singh hospital that all reports are ok and they didn’t find any clue of regular fever, although there was a very prominent clue of 1st stage of kydney failure. (High albumin creatinine ratio). We got the report from br singh on 19th september 2019, while doctor said that all reports are ok, we found that there are multiple cases including kidney report was not ok.
However, when the patient was admitted under dr. Indranil sinha roy the condition of patient was good, only the problem was regular fever and fall of haemoglobin. After 3 weeks of thorough testing (Including pet ct scan, all cancer related testing) they said, 2 vegetations were found in valves of heart.in the meantime the kidney condition become worse, though they said kidney will not be a problem, the main problem are the vegetation. Three weeks after they said 1 vegetation is recovered and the patient need 2 types of antibiotic daily to recover from it. The kidney condition become worst now, they said it’s very tough to recover kidney, the patient may need dialysis. All of a sudden, the patient started behaving abnormally, doctor said it’s due to kidney failure and it is called urenal psychosis. Then they started dyalisis, and after 5/6 times the patient was no more in the condition to take all those heavy antibiotics. Our patient take last breathe on 7th november.

We have several questions on this mistreated case:

1: we came to know that the plenty of neuro medicines was given to patient. Why?
2: why treatment of kidney not happened throughout the treatment (Except last few days)?
3: why amri return the patient to br singh hospital in the worst condition? Without any oxyzen mask even in breathing problem?
4: dr indranil sinha roy constantly misguiding us with other issues apart from kidney, we came to know maximum of the patient faced same type of treatment under indranil sinha roy.

We need these answers, this is an high example of carelessness, mistreatment and medical business policy. We will go to the highest extent regarding this and therefore we are going to complain against this to the consumer forum. Hope this matter will be taken with highest level of seriousness.

Also we will mail the same to the amri hospital and br singh hospital. Please look into this, hope we will get a reply back and help others to refrain from taking treatment from this hospital.

Amri hospital has been one stop solution for my family since last 2 years. My family went for surgery and regular check up several times. Our experience was very good until today. But perception changed today by a doctor today. My father consulting dr. Sushanta mohanty (Dermatologist) from last 2 weeks. After taking his medication my dad had bad reaction and he went to see dr sushanta. The way dr treated him is very unprofessional. Here are the few words what dr reacted for a medicine reaction.

* if you are getting secure headache after using medication. You can go and see neurologist.

* i don’t know why you are getting those rashes after taking these medication. If you want you can stop them.

* nothing wrong with my prescription i don’t know why you are getting rashes and headache.

Is this the right way to treat patients? Dr sushanta doesn’t know the basics ethics how to treat or talk to people. I request management to look this matter seriously and help other patients in future

My father admitted on 31st January, 2020 with liver abscess under Dr. Sudipto Ghosh(Gastro). Liver aspiration process was done on 1st February, 2020 and the fluid was sent for Rapid Blood / Body Fluid Culture test. I supposed to receive that report on 6th February, 2020. But when I went to collect the report on 12th February, 2020 as I had an appointment with Dr. Sudipto Ghosh(Gastro), I asked to wait for 30minutes. The report was not ready. The authority could not even give me proper reason for the delay. I had to visit the doctor without that report. When I came back again to collect the report, I had to wait another 20 minutes. This kind of mismanagement is not expected in a medical sector. Who’s going to pay for this harassment?
I need a proper explanation with the details. I have attached the supportive documents. Please take a prompt action against it.

I had my ACL surgery with Dr. Kanchan Bhattacharya on 21.12.2020. I had regional anaesthesia. After few days of surgery pain started at the place of anaesthesia and it is spreading. I have severe dry eyes syndrome for which extra care was required during surgery which the anaesthetist did not take in spite of requesting many times. She is not only careless, she is incompetent for her own job.

Mr. Surendra Kumar Surana (M/68) had an appointment with Dr. P.K.Pooviah at AMRI CLINIC (Southern Avenue, Kolkata) at 8:45am.
On arrival at the clinic we found out that apart from the billing counter, all the other necessary and basic required for attending any patient inside a doctor’s chamber were missing for which the doctor himself was searching and looking for here and there. Even a sister for attending the patients was found missing on the 4th floor when all the patients along with their attendants were waiting.
The lady on the cash counter kept calling continuously at the main reception desk on the 1st floor but there was no response.
Finally we took the initiative to approach the main reception desk upon which the representatives took up the matter seriously and made necessary arrangements.
Kindly note that any patient approaching a hospital with or without appointment needs immediate medical attention or advice without being made to wait. The basic medical arrangements should be spot on especially today where we were given a prior appointment from the hospital itself.
Kindly look into the matter and do the needful so that the doctors and the patients donot have to wait and suffer as we had to.

Regards
Udit Surana

Hi Team, To express my dissatisfaction with the service I receivedfrom AMRI, Bhubaneswar, I am writing. On Nov 1, 2020, my sister(UHID:AM[protected] was admittedto the hospital for delivery. We were entitled to claim up to 50k as we had thecorporate insurance plan, and we sent all the necessary documentation to theTPA desk / via mail for the pre-processing of the insurance claim to avoidfurther delay. The TPA team, sadly, could not do their job effectively. Here, Iwill highlight a few of the problems we have faced.Firstly, after the AMRI TPA had sent the information toVipul on 1 Nov. The insurance company had a question. That was unaddresseduntil after I followed up and shared the mail on Tuesday afternoon. I think itshould have been the duty of the TPA representative to follow up on time.Secondly, on the date of discharge, the first set up billsubmitted for approval was the incorrect format that was refused and thebreakdown requested for price. Again, until I forwarded mail received from theinsurance company, TPA refused to answer it. I don’t understand why we don’tfollow any sort of detailed best practice format. Finally, the insurance company sent the approval number(40500INR) at around 3 pm for the first time, and the correction was required andsent at 4 pm (45000INR). But the new final approval was ignored by the TPA andthe bill was processed. Because of the pandemic, we are aware that no one elsewas allowed inside the hospital apart from the attendant. Therefore, my motherwas the best person to support my sister, as in this maternity situation. I wastrying to remotely organize (which the TPA team should have done). Around 6 pm, when my senior citizen mother went to the discharge desk to clear the amount ofthe bill and was asked to pay the balance amount where the second acceptedamount was not considered. I called the discharged desk before that and askedif we should close the bill that they said yes, we got the insurance company’sapproval (they did not mention the exact amount). I always thought, as alayman, that they would have considered the latest approved amount. I reviewedthe bill at home. I found that the latest amount had not been considered. Ireached out to the TPA desk. Unfortunately, the lady TPA representative was so unprofessional.Instead of addressing the issue, she argued with me why the bill was closed. There was an inappropriate response.I am requesting to address my concern as soon as possible. Ichecked with the insurance company they said that they would not refund theamount if we claim as the amount has been accepted to the hospital. My concernis here if the hospital cannot send the amount to the insurance company thenwhere the balance amount lies. It’s totally immoral and unconstitutional. Butyou should work on it and arrange the refund we are expected to get, please. In addition, to enhance the service, I would like to suggesta few points below: 1. Train the staffs so that the customer can obtainsuccessful service. Inside the department, I could see several teamworkproblems. 2. We should go for paperless service during this covidcase. Whereas, via email, I should get the blood / other test report. Thedepartment doesn’t know when to update the mail I d.3. I could not find anywhere digital payment apps (Paytm, Goolgepay etc). In order to reduce the covid risk, we should avoid physical contact. I hope my issue will soon be solved.

Mr. Santi Mangol Mukherjee, a super senior citizen aged 87, had visited Dr. Sudipta Mitra at AMRI Southern Avenue on 29.08.2020 with complaints of poor, blurry vision. Dr. Mitra had conducted a test, recommended a power checkup for his spectacles and said that a laser procedure was necessary. Mr. Mukherjee complied and had the laser done. Also, he ordered a new pair of spectacles with lens of the prescribed optical power. Dr. Mitra advised him to come back for a follow-up after he received his new spectacles. During the days that followed, his eyes had inflammed severely and they were itchy. These subsided over an extended period of two weeks. Mr. Mukherjee went for the follow-up on 15.09.2020. He reported all the symptoms to Dr. Mitra, and she conducted another eye test and advised him to wear the glasses at all times. As he came out of the hospital, however, the same symptoms reappeared within a one hour window; inflammed and itchy eyes. Furthermore, his vision became extremely blurry even with glasses on. The entire face looked disfigured. When these did not subside in over two weeks, Mr. Mukherjee made another appointment with Dr. Mitra and visited her on 03.10.2020. This time, she conducted her own tests and then asked him to recheck the power, sending him to the optometrist. The optometrist, however, said that it was not possible to check the power as he already had eye drops administered for the initial checkup which makes one’s vision blurry. Mr. Mukherjee was thus asked to come back after a month. Since then, he has been in terrible discomfort, with inflammation around his eyes and extremely poor vision. He even reported that his vision is poorer than what it was prior to all treatment. He has had to travel all the way from Sampa Mirza Nagar to Southern Avenue three times, amid the Covid-19 pandemic situation, pay a hefty fee every time, all upto no avail. In addition, his vision is poorer than it initially was! Can this be called any short than harrasment? An elderly patient, of his age, with all sorts of co-morbidities that makes him enormously vulnerable to Covid, he is made to travel to the hospital this many times without any improvement whatsoever. This is highly irresponsible of the doctor concerned, as well as of the organisation as a whole. We expect immediate compensation for this kind of treatment.
